Dr. Khatuna Burkadze delivered a public lecture entitled "Georgia's European Future: From Candidacy to Membership" at Caucasus University.

Dr. Khatuna Burkadze noted: "As a result of the analysis of the history of European integration, it is obvious that the idea of a united Europe implies peace, security, creation of real development opportunities and, of course, diversity, respect and protection of the identity of European countries. The European Union, through economic and political integration, has been able to develop high European standards for safeguarding human rights and freedoms. European integration stimulates the implementation of legislative and institutional reforms to protect individual's political, civil, social, economic, and cultural rights".

"Georgia's membership in the European Union means granting the status of European Union citizenship to our citizens, which indicates the full opening of the window of European opportunities. It is the best, democratic, stable way of achieving citizens' goals. At the same time, this process creates legal guarantees for realizing individuals' rights and freedoms," added Dr. Khatuna Burkadze.
