Nikoloz Khatiashvili Addresses the “Energy Security and Regional Cooperation” Conference Organized by “World Experience for Georgia” (WEG Georgia)

On March 27, the “Energy Security and Regional Cooperation” conference was held in Tbilisi, organized by “World Experience for Georgia” (WEG Georgia), featuring Geocase researcher Nikoloz Khatiashvili, who delivered a key speech on the strategic importance of the “Middle Corridor” within the European security framework.

Khatiashvili emphasized the critical challenges facing the South Caucasus, including its energy and transportation infrastructure, and Georgia's pivotal role in advancing the Middle Corridor. He outlined the necessary steps to ensure security, stability, and sustainable development in both the South Caucasus and Black Sea regions.

“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has significantly altered the geopolitical landscape of the broader Black Sea region, necessitating a reevaluation of European security structures. In this shifting context, it is essential for Georgia to leverage every opportunity presented by the formation of a new European security framework, contributing to regional security, stability, and sustainable development. In this regard, strengthening cooperation with the United States and the European Union is of paramount importance,” Khatiashvili stated.

The conference brought together experts and young researchers from the South Caucasus region to engage in discussions covering key topics such as renewable energy development, enhancing regional cooperation, security, energy and infrastructure projects, economic integration, and digital transformation.

The event was held with the support of the EU4Dialogue project.
