The Geocase Chair Victor Kipiani held an introductory meeting with Dr. Costa Andre Georghiou, Associate Professor, SARChi African Diplomacy & Foreign Policy, Co-director of Centre for African Diplomacy & Leadership, and Professor Deon Geldenhuys, from University of Johannesburg (South Africa).
During the meeting they discussed prospects for mutual relations between Geocase and University of Johannesburg. It was agreed that, in the framework enhanced professional relations, joint projects and bilateral events will be organized. Publications, research and other relevant information will also be exchanged in order to foster academic cooperation. Furthermore, the professors invited Victor Kipiani to deliver a lecture in the University of Johannesburg.
The guests received information on the current developments in the region and, for their part as South Africans, shared insights regarding apartheid, and approaches to treat the issues it caused.
The conversation also touched on future cooperation prospects in political as well as cultural domains and inclusivity.
„I am delighted to have met with dear professors in person. I believe that our cooperation will be fruitful and together we will carry out many successful joint projects. Also, considering the streams of South Africa’s foreign policy, we will keep updating them with further developments and respective implications in the region”, - noted Victor Kipiani, the Chair of Geocase.
