Nikoloz Khatiashvili, Foreign Policy Researcher and International Secretary at Geocase assessed Georgia's invitation to the NATO ministerial meeting and noted: "Inviting Georgia, as a non-member country of the alliance, to the ministerial meeting is a manifestation of NATO’s strategic goal which, on the one hand, indicates how important our region is to NATO in terms of security, and, on the other hand, it is a clear message about how close Georgia is to NATO and that Georgia is perceived as a strong and loyal partner of the Alliance".
From his viewpoint, it is noteworthy that Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova have been invited to the ministerial together, as all the three countries are facing common challenges.
"I believe that the ministerial will be a good opportunity for the Georgian side to present its vision to the member states of the alliance on all important issues that NATO-Georgia cooperation envisages, including strengthening security in the Black Sea region, because this region has become one of the priority directions for NATO; it is also reflected in the new concept of NATO. Furthermore, within the framework of the ministerial, it will be important to discuss the implementation of the decisions of the Madrid summit, as one of the discussion topics will be the enhanced aid to Georgia, the strengthening of the country's defence capabilities and the further deepening of relations with the alliance partners," Nikoloz Khatiashvili added.
