In May - June 2025, Geocase Advisor Shalva Lomidze and Research Fellow on Foreign and Security Policy - Nikoloz Khatiashvili took part in a joint educational project organized by the Thomas Jefferson Research Center and the Georgian Defense and Security Association titled “Critical Analysis of Hybrid Warfare Challenges to Georgia’s National Security.”
As part of the project, the Geocase experts delivered public lectures, sharing their insights on hybrid threats - an increasingly critical topic amid evolving global and regional security dynamics.
Shalva Lomidze focused on the role of intelligence in countering hybrid warfare. He emphasized the importance of effective coordination among intelligence agencies, drew on international best practices, and discussed both existing threats and the potential tools available to respond to hybrid challenges.
Nikoloz Khatiashvili addressed the broader impact of hybrid threats on national security architecture. He analyzed Russia’s methods of waging hybrid warfare, the role of Russian intelligence services in these operations, and highlighted the pressing security challenges currently facing both Europe and the Black Sea region.
