Baqar Palavandishvili, Moderated the Competition Policy and Sustainable Development Session of the First International Conference on Competition and Consumer Rights

Head of Competition Practice at MKD Law and Deputy Chair of Geocase, Baqar Palavandishvili, moderated the Competition Policy and Sustainable Development session of the first International Conference on Competition and Consumer Rights held in Georgia during November 16-17. 
 

The speakers of the secession were María Pilar Canedo Arrillaga, Commissioner of the Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission, Mammad Abbasbeyli, Head of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Levan Kalandadze, First Deputy Chairman of the Georgian National Competition Agency, Giorgi Pertaia, President of Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Teona Zhizhiashvili, Legal manager, PWC Georgia. The speakers covered the role of competition law and enforcement in sustainable development. 
 

During the session, Baqar Palavandishvili discussed the relationship between the goals of competition law and other legal fields, mentioned the risks associated with incorporating sustainable development in competition law enforcement and referred to the UK and US cases in the context of competition law and sustainable development.
