Geocase has held a webinar on the one-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The online discussion aimed to analyze the Kremlin's military aggressive actions against Ukraine and the large-scale support of the West to Ukraine. 

Dr. Khatuna Burkadze, Director of Foreign Policy Studies at Geocase spoke about the importance of the final victory of Ukraine for the international security system. 

Dr. Khatuna Burkadze underlined: "Russia's war against Ukraine has clearly demonstrated the main challenges facing the global collective security system. The Russian Federation, a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, once again violated fundamental principles of international law. The large-scale support of the West to Ukraine including military, economic and humanitarian aid plays a crucial role to overcome threats coming from Russia's historically unchanged, highly aggressive policy. The final victory of Ukraine would become the significant impetus for the transformation of the international system." 

Dr. Khatuna Burkadze mentioned: "After a year of unprovoked and unjust war launched by Russia against Ukraine, U.S. President Joe Biden made a surprise visit to Kyiv and reaffirmed unwavering and unflagging commitment to Ukraine's democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. President Biden announced half-billion dollars in new assistance. This package includes more military equipment. Ukraine will win through the support of the U.S. and other Western allies."

"This war has demonstrated that the role of NATO and the European Union is growing in ensuring international security by the day, and their global importance along with the regional is particularly evident. This fact accelerates the integration of the states affected by Russian threats into European and Euro-Atlantic structures and requires the continuation of the enlargement of these organizations," – added Dr. Khatuna Burkadze. 

General (retired) Vakhtang Kapanadze, Adviser of Geocase highlighted: "Russia is strategically defeated. Kremlin could not predict two facts - the resistance of the brave Ukrainian people and the significant support of the West. In such cases, decisions are made based on various sources. It seems that responsible agencies did not provide the President of the Russian Federation with appropriate information because of the specific characteristics of the Russian political system or Putin could not analyze received data appropriately." 

Journalist David Kakulia said: "The Ukrainian people strongly support soldiers and assist them. Ukraine focuses on enhancing the capacities of militaries through education and other ways. After the war, Ukraine will have one of the best military units that would be well-prepared and equipped with Western techniques.''
