The Geocase Chairman Victor Kipiani has participated in the annual international conference - “Shaping the Geopolitics of the Greater Eurasia: from Past to Present to Future” - organized by ADA University in Azerbaijan. In the framework of the event, the President of Azerbaijan Mr Ilham Aliyev met with the conference participants in the city of Shusha, Karabakh.
The conference was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev, the former president of Azerbaijan. The event gathered high-ranked representatives from different spheres from 30 countries.
During the conference, Victor Kipiani addressed the President and noted: “Thank you very much, Mr. President Aliyev. Your Excellency, delighted to be in Shusha and thank you for your time. You mentioned on a few occasions the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, the South Caucasus Pipeline. Undisputedly those projects laid down the foundations for good regional cooperation, which will benefit us up to this phase and hopefully will continue benefiting into decades to come. And this is really the great legacy of Heydar Aliyev and his counterpart President Shevardnadze. And this is something you know something, which we should be very much thankful for.”
Ilham Aliyev, in connection with the question posed by Victor Kipiani regarding the joint projects of Georgia and Azerbaijan, emphasized the mutual successful projects and noted that Azerbaijan intends to make additional investments in the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project to expand the railroad on the Georgian territory thus increase the capacity to 5 mln tones, this will also promote the development of the Middle Corridor potential. He also said that Azerbaijan is considering cooperation with Georgia regarding its seaports. “we are actively evaluating future cooperation with respect to the potential of Georgian seaports – existing and planned. I do not want to say something before some results are achieved. We are seriously evaluating. We see great potential because we can foresee huge cargo flow through the Middle Corridor across the Caspian and then further down to Georgia’s seaports and through Georgia to Türkiye, to Kars further down. So, this is a reality,” – he said. Ilham Aliyev, also, spoke about the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project and stressed its importance for Georgia and Azerbaijan as for the countries with great renewable energy potential.
“So, we have a great future and must always be together,” – added President Aliyev.
